Version 2.1

What's New in Version 2.1

More Document Formats

Version 2.1 of Almost Paper will read transcripts and other similar documents in any of the following formats:
  • Ascii
  • Microsoft Word 97
  • Microsoft Word 2000
  • WordPerfect 6,7 and 8
  • HTML

Support for HTML allows you to load cases and statutes downloaded from the Web.

PCL Converter

Version 2.1 of Almost Paper ships with a converter allowing you to convert documents in various formats into an Ascii format suitable for use with Almost Paper.

In fact, the Acsii format produced is suitable for use with other litigation support packages as well.

Binders

You can now create binders in a case and add documents to the binders. For example, you can create one binder to hold transcripts and another for case law and research memos.

Create Documents within Almost Paper

Version 2.1 allows you to add or create editable documents in a case. They will open in their native application (for example, Word or WordPerfect). When they are complete, you can add them to the index.

Images

Almost Paper is not designed to manage images of all of the documents in a case. However, you can now load images as non-indexed documents and they will appear in the list of documents for the case. When you open them, they will open in the default image reader on your computer. This is handy, for example, for adding images of exhibits that are referred to in your transcripts.

Viewing and Searching Notes

Right click on the note tool in the Document Viewer window to display a window from which you can view or search your notes.

Other Improvements

  • The index has been rewritten and is significantly faster.

  • You can re-index the documents in a case without losing any of your annotations.

  • An option is available from the Documents menu to backup and compact the index.

  • New keyboard shortcuts make Almost Paper easier to use.
